Briggs Automotive Company (BAC), a British car manufacturer, has unveiled a new version of its Mono R supercar that features a unique colored carbon fiber body. This cutting-edge technology eliminates the need for traditional paint coatings, resulting in a lighter and more efficient vehicle.

The Mono R, designed as a single-seater racer for demanding roads and tracks, already weighed in at around 570 kilograms. However, BAC has managed to reduce the weight even further with this new iteration. The colored carbon fiber version weighs just 555 kilograms, making it lighter than the standard model. Despite its reduced weight, the Mono R boasts an impressive 343 bhp and a power-to-weight ratio of 618 bhp per tonne.

What sets this new supercar apart is the patented paint-replacement technology developed by color company Hypetex. Normally, traditional paint coatings can add about 138 grams per square meter to a vehicle’s weight. However, Hypetex’s method only adds a mere 17 grams for the same area. This reduction in weight allows the colored carbon fiber Mono R to accelerate from zero to 60 mph in less than 2.5 seconds.

The striking design of the Mono R is enhanced by the Hypetex-colored carbon fiber body. The glossy white palette contrasts beautifully with the black vehicle parts and hints of yellow. The body is created using Hypetex’s titanium carbon fiber twill, and a crystallized lacquer gives it a shiny aesthetic finish. The supercar features an imposing shark-nose front, a Formula-inspired ram-air inlet system, and centrally mounted LED headlights.

Aerodynamic efficiency has been a key focus for BAC with the Mono R. The car has undergone various enhancements, including wider sidepods, front arches, and a larger rear spoiler. These additions contribute to the vehicle’s aerodynamic performance, ensuring it cuts through the air with ease. The bespoke version of the Mono R was created through BAC’s Bespoke program, allowing customers to customize their car to their personal taste.

The debut of the Hypetex-colored carbon fiber Mono R marks a significant advancement in the automotive industry. BAC has managed to reduce the weight of the supercar while maintaining its power and enhancing its overall aesthetics. This impressive feat highlights the potential of innovative materials and techniques in the production of high-performance vehicles.
