Australian architecture firm Kennedy Nolan has unveiled Leftfield, an affordable housing block in Melbourne’s Brunswick neighbourhood. The development is part of the Nightingale Village project, which aims to create sustainable and socially conscious residential buildings. Kennedy Nolan sought to give its building of 28 homes a unique and welcoming presence within the urban block. Large geometric compositions on the western facade create an eye-catching feature, while ochre precast concrete panels provide a warm glow in the afternoon sun. Inside, the apartments feature a muted material palette with accents of cork, brass, timber, and terrazzo. The Nightingale Village project has been longlisted in the Housing category of the Dezeen Awards.
