Ovenecká 33: A Unique Apartment in Prague Blends Art and Design

Prague, Czech Republic – Ovenecká 33 is not your ordinary apartment. Tucked away in the vibrant city of Prague, this space is a visual feast, where design is treated as an art installation. Conceived by creative Tereza Porybná and executed in collaboration with Objektor architekti, this apartment pushes the boundaries of creativity and invites visitors to immerse themselves in a world of artistic expression.

From the moment one steps through its doors, Ovenecká 33 captures the imagination. Porybná, known for her fascination with connection and exploration, envisioned a space that transcends the ordinary. This apartment blurs the line between public and private spaces, offering a home that evolves alongside life itself.

Objektor architekti, led by Jakub Červenka, Václav Šuba, and Vojtěch Šaroun, turned Porybná’s vision into reality. Inspired by the works of design pioneers such as Luis Barragán, Valentina Schlegel, and Bijoy Jain, the project took on a life of its own and materialized into a space that boasts unique design elements.

One of the most captivating aspects of Ovenecká 33 lies in its intriguing hidden corners and geometric details. The interior unfolds in layers, revealing a home throne, a kitchen resembling a cave, and a secret doorway concealed within the library. The walls are adorned with niches of various shapes, while geometric stones embedded in the floors create a mesmerizing mosaic-like effect.

The horizontal layout of the apartment provided the designers with a canvas for their imagination. They conceptualized the design as a “living scenography of changing and permanent backdrops,” allowing visitors to explore different pathways and unexpected viewpoints. The interplay of light on the stucco walls changes throughout the day, thanks to the movement of the sun.

At the heart of the main living space stands a grand concrete island, serving multiple functions and anchoring the room with its commanding presence.

But Ovenecká 33 is more than just an apartment; it is also designed to function as an art gallery. Porybná’s dream is to invite creators for artist residencies, ensuring that the space remains in a constant state of transformation and creativity.

While shades of gray dominate the apartment, warm woods and pops of color are incorporated to create a cozy and inviting atmosphere. A small, minimalist bathroom delights with colorful reflections of light through a stained glass window.

As one enters through the light-filled entryway, they encounter a hallway adorned with a woven textile-clad throne, doubling as a captivating piece of art.

Ovenecká 33 is a testament to the power of design. It is an apartment that defies expectations and invites visitors to step into a world where art and living coexist harmoniously. Captured by the lens of BoysPlayNice photography, this unique space is a true masterpiece in the heart of Prague.
