Reyes Ríos + Larraín Arquitectos, a renowned architectural firm, has unveiled its latest project, CY Casas de Campo. This impressive residential retreat is nestled within the Mayan outskirts of Valladolid in Yucatan, Mexico. The site is characterized by its underground sinkholes known as Cenotes, and the architects have made a conscious effort to preserve the natural beauty of the surroundings.

Completed in 2022, the compound spans an impressive 2,000 square meters and comprises several key buildings designed to facilitate social gatherings. The Main House serves as the focal point, while a kitchen pavilion, featuring a local grass roof atop a modern steel structure, adds a touch of traditional charm to the retreat.

In addition to creating a visually stunning space, Reyes Ríos + Larraín Arquitectos developed a master plan that prioritizes minimal environmental impact. The placement of the key buildings was carefully planned to minimize disruption to the surrounding area, taking into account the deforestation caused by agricultural activities. By removing a thin layer of soil, the architects exposed the natural face of the stone, providing a unique and raw aesthetic. This design choice also allows for unobstructed views of the picturesque Peninsula of Yucatan.

The architects went a step further in their approach to integrating the retreat with the landscape. They established a link between the compound’s east-west axis and the two Cenotes within the property, ensuring that the buildings harmoniously blend with the unique natural features of the site.

CY Casas de Campo is a testament to the commitment of Reyes Ríos + Larraín Arquitectos to combining contemporary design with environmental sustainability. By respecting the existing natural order and creating a strong connection to the surroundings, this private retreat offers a truly immersive experience for its guests. With its stunning architecture and breathtaking setting, CY Casas de Campo is sure to captivate anyone seeking a tranquil and luxurious escape in the heart of Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula.
